Yacht builders of Italy and the Netherlands
Top management map · 40 builders · general manager candidates
A map of the top management of the Italian and Dutch yacht builders for a yachting company that is building a new yard and hiring its first general manager: who runs each builder, who sits under them, how the yards are organised, what happened to them between 2023 and 2026, and the candidates drawn from these teams and their alumni.
Summarywhat the map says, and what to do first
What the map says
40 builders; 3,607 profiles read one by one and placed in a function and a level; 227 people fit one of the three pools, 103 of them under 50 by the age estimate; 16 proposed for detailed evaluation; 60 people with a Turkish connection.
Five of the 37 top seats were reached from sales, every one of them inside the same yard. The hired outsiders are industrial chiefs brought in by investors and listed groups since 2023, always into a yard that already had a seller.
Two are independent after group commercial seats (de Vivo, Fanizza) and one lost his yard to a takeover (Rucconi). Seven need a trigger that is visible on this map: the Ferretti and TISG ownership changes, the outsider placed over Azimut's commercial chief, Sanlorenzo's sales reorganisation. Six took a new seat in 2025 or 2026 and are unlikely before 2027.
On every organisation chart the person who runs the yard day to day under an owner or a group chief executive is marked, with the reason: the people who would step up if the top seat moved, and the second layer a new yard could hire from.
Sixty people on the map have a Turkish connection; 37 of them are Turkish engineers and leads at Royal Van Lent, Damen Yachting and Oceanco, hired from Turquoise, Sedef, Tersan and Sirena since 2019. The senior people who know Türkiye are the ones who built there: a former Heesen COO, a former TISG operations chief, a former Feadship technology head.
The listed Italian groups pay their senior layer EUR 300,000 to 900,000 and a general director a bonus equal to salary; Dutch directors average EUR 160,000. A European general manager at a new yard in Türkiye costs the European package plus 35 to 50 per cent once housing, schools and the tax gross-up are added.
The first five to approach
Risks
Three of the first five have no sitting seat to leave, which is also the first question to ask them. The reachability judgments come from careers, dates and the press, not from conversations. The age estimate can put a person a year either side of 50. The pay anchors are the listed groups' reports and two national surveys; no survey of shipyard general managers exists.
Next step
Approach the three who are reachable now this quarter, and agree the location model (one resident general manager, a European commercial lead beside a resident yard director, or a split week with a resident deputy) before the first call: it decides whether the Dutch hybrids and the Italian operations chiefs are in or out.
